Program Description:The federal Emergency Food and Shelter program (EFSP) supplements and expands the ongoing work of local social service organizations, both non-profit and governmental, to provide shelter, food and supportive services to individuals and families who have economic emergencies. United Way of Wyandotte County acts as the local fiscal agent for the EFSP, which includes leading the local EFSP board and administering funding to local human service agencies. Funding in Wyandotte County includes support for mass feeding operations, food pantries, temporarily living shelters and rent/mortgage assistance.
